Fire Damages Vacant Home Under Renovation in Wilder

Hartford, VT - Firefighters from the Hartford Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at a single-family home on Chandler Road in Wilder, Vermont, where arriving crews encountered smoke coming from the building.


Firefighters quickly entered the residence and confirmed the home was unoccupied at the time of the incident.


Crews were able to bring the fire under control before it could spread further, but the structure sustained significant heat, smoke, and water damage during the event. Officials noted the property was undergoing renovations and was not currently being lived in.


The Hartford Fire Marshal’s Office is actively investigating the cause and origin of the fire. Mutual aid assistance was provided by the Hanover, Lebanon, Norwich, and Windsor Fire Departments during the response.
