Downed Power Line Sparks Fast-Moving Wildland Fire in Rangeley Plantation
Rangeley, ME - Firefighters from the Rangeley Fire Rescue responded to a reported downed power line along Route 4 near Main Street in Rangeley Plantation, Maine, where the energized line had ignited a wildland fire.
First-arriving crews encountered a rapidly spreading fire advancing uphill, prompting the immediate request for additional resources.
Mutual aid was provided by the Eustis Fire Department and Phillips Fire Department to assist with water supply and manpower as the fire grew to an estimated two or more acres.
Firefighters worked aggressively to contain and knock down the main body of fire before conducting extensive overhaul operations to ensure complete extinguishment.
Additional support was provided by the Maine Forest Service, Rangeley Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff's Office, and the Franklin County Regional Communications Center.
