Challenging Nighttime Rescue Near Folly Pond Successfully Locates and Extracts Injured Hiker

York, ME - Firefighters from the York, Maine Fire Department responded alongside York Ambulance to assist a lost and injured hiker within the trail system near Folly Pond.


Working in coordination with the York Police Department, crews were able to locate the individual and begin patient care in a remote, wooded area.


Firefighters then carried out a complex extrication, navigating darkness and difficult terrain using rope rescue systems, coordinated manpower, and specialized equipment including UTVs and ATVs.


The extended operation required significant resources and careful coordination, ultimately resulting in the safe removal of the patient from the trail system.


Additional support was provided by Kittery Fire Department, which covered stations during the incident. The response highlighted strong teamwork and seamless cooperation among multiple emergency agencies.
