NEW BRAINTREE, MA — April 14th — At a brush fire in a field close to 205 Goodfield Road, crews from the New Braintree Fire Department, located at 110 W Brookfield Road, worked alongside Hardwick units. According to early reports, there was an active fire with an unclear pace of spread. To limit the fire and prevent its forward progress, firefighters used engines, brush units, and hand equipment.
Later, command reported that most of the fire had been put out, but workers were still on the scene for a thorough mop-up to deal with hot areas. During the overhaul, New Braintree Car-3, Forestry-1, Engine-2, and Hardwick Car-1 handled a minor rekindle. Because ground fuels contain concealed heat, brush fires frequently require prolonged operations. Safe operations are supported by National Fire Protection Association guidelines.
