Pickup into Resevoir, Waltham

The Waltham Fire Department responded to reports of a pickup truck crashing into the Cambridge Reservoir near 900 Winter Street at 4:26 pm on Tuesday 28 April 2026. Rescue 1, Tower 1, Engine 2, Engine 6A with the Central Boat, Engine 1 with the Moody St. Boat and Car 2 responded. WFD H1 and H2 also responded to the incident along with Armstrong Ambulance's Medic 1 and FS2. As crews arrived at 4:32 pm, Waltham Police Department officers reported the male driver/solo occupant of the vehicle was out of the pickup truck and back safely on shore. WFD confirmed this report and Engine 2's crew initiated patient care. The driver was then evaluated by Armstrong Ambulance crews and transported to Lahey Hospital.
Engine 7 and Engine 7 Boat responded along with Engine 8 and the Cambridge Watershed trailer. The Central and Engine 7 Boats along with Central Station crews assisted in deploying the containment booms and absorbent pads around the semi-submerged vehicle. Cambridge Watershed and Department of Environmental Protection (D.E.P.) officials were notified. The Cambridge Fire Dive Team was requested to respond to assist in the vehicle recovery. Medic 2 and Medic 3 also responded during this portion of the operation. The vehicle was successfully removed.
