Firefighters Rescue Dog from 2 Alarm Fire in Waltham

The Waltham Fire Department responded to reports of a building fire at 38 Autumn Lane at 7:57 am on Wednesday morning, April 29, 2026. Engine 7, Engine 8, Tower 1, Rescue 1, Engine 2 and Car 2 along with Armstrong Medic 4 responded on the first alarm. Crews reported heavy smoke showing from Central Station. Crews were also informed of possible propane tanks in the rear of the building. Car 2 Fire Suppression Deputy Chief Paul Quaranto ordered a 2nd alarm at 8:04 am. Second Alarm companies include Ladder 2, Squad 5, Engine 4 and Engine 1. Command staff of Car 1 (Chief), Car 4 (Safety), H1 and Car 3 are also all on scene. Engine 4 is serving as the Rapid Intervention (R.I.T.) team. The owner's dog was also rescued.
