Virginia apparatus struck on Interstate crash scene

PRINCE WILLIAM,VA-Heavy rain and dark conditions greeted Prince William  Engine 23 as it was toned out on April 28.


Engine 23 was arriving at the scene of a vehicle accident on Interstate 95, when it was struck by a vehicle.


Firefighters were just beginning to exit the Engine when it was struck.


No firefighters were injured.


The driver of Engine 23 had opted to don his safety vest inside the rig because of the rainy and dark conditions. That probaly saved his life, a spokesman for Prince William Professional Firefighters said.


Officials said the vehicle driver failed to obey the Slow down, move over law.
