Groton firefighters arrived at this large barn/house and found heavy fire showing already extending into the attic. Command struck a 2nd alarm bringing in mutual aid to the scene and to cover. Companies maintained a defensive operation until the heavy volume of fire was knocked down enough to go to an offensive operation. Companies remained on scene for several hours overhauling and checking for extension.
