Portage, PA — April 18th — In the Willow Springs area of Blue Knob State Park, the Blue Knob Volunteer Fire Company, situated at 2082 Knob Road, responded to a brush fire. When Brush, Attack, and UTV teams arrived, they discovered that an earlier controlled burn by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources was still going strong. For more than two hours, teams from Alum Bank, Imler, and Blue Knob worked together to contain the fire.
Establishing containment lines, using water, and monitoring for extension were the main operations. In order to prevent spread and save park property, wildland responses in this region frequently necessitate cooperation between local businesses and governmental officials.
