Mutual Aid Crews Operate at Cambria County Structure Fire

Portage, PA — April 11th — At a residential building fire in Portage Township, Cambria County, the Blue Knob Volunteer Fire Company, situated at 2082 Knob Road, arrived to support the Portage Fire Company. Mutual aid units were present when Engine/Rescue 86 and Engine/Tanker 86 arrived and began operations. In addition to completing overhaul operations to check for extension and secure the structure, crews assisted with fire suppression.


The response was a reflection of the region's coordinated mutual aid system, in which departments collaborate to control building fires. Throughout the disaster, maintaining crew coordination and establishing a water supply were top objectives. Joint actions like this promote efficient incident management and firefighter safety, according to officials.
