Barn Fire Draws Multi-Agency Response in Fairmount

LONG VALLEY, NJ — April 21st — At at 8:30 p.m., the Washington Township Fire Department was called to a reported structure fire in the Fairmount neighborhood. First-Within four minutes, arriving units arrived on the scene and reported a large barn with numerous exposures that was completely involved. In order to control the fire and safeguard surrounding structures, crews started defensive operations.


Suppression and water supply operations were aided by mutual help departments from Long Valley, Fairmount, Schooleys Mountain, Chester, and Califon. Tanker operations and coordinated staffing are frequently needed for prolonged occurrences in remote locations.


Before the fire was contained, units were in operation for around seven hours. There were no reported injuries.
