Mutual Aid Supports Borough Fire Response

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

BEAVER, PA — March 26th — A suspected fire under a house prompted the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department to react to the 900 block of 7th Street. When units arrived, smoke was coming from the building. Engine 101 was the first to arrive and located an outside fire with a small extension to the outside of the house by deploying a 1½-inch handline to the back.

After a brief knockdown, the crews looked for more time. To get rid of smoke from the basement, positive pressure ventilation was set up. There was no evidence of the fire spreading inside the house. Mutual aid organizations arrived and helped with scene support and operations. In order to avoid interior participation, incidents involving fires beneath structures must be quickly controlled. Before going back into service, units stayed on the site for inspections.
