YAPHANK, NY - On April 23rd, the Gordon Heights Fire Department was activated for a reported brush fire on Gray Ave. Yaphank 31 arrived on scene and found a large brush fire in the rear of 30 Gray Ave., and requested three additional brush trucks from Yaphank, Coram and Middle Island, as well as engine companies from Farmingville and Middle Island. Gordon Heights and Yaphank arrived on scene and started to knock down the fire. Coram and Middle Island arrived and helped with mop up. The scene was placed under control within two hours.
