Wind-Fueled Brush Fire Rekindles in Westport, Mutual Aid Crews Contain Spread
Tiverton,RI - Firefighters from Tiverton responded on mutual aid to assist Westport crews with a rapidly spreading brush fire off Devol Pond Drive.
The fire, initially believed to have been extinguished by a property owner after an earlier burn, reignited as winds picked up.
The rekindled flames quickly spread into nearby wooded areas and ignited large piles of brush on the property, creating challenging conditions for responding crews.
Firefighters from both departments worked efficiently to contain the fire and prevent further extension. Their coordinated efforts brought the situation under control before it could threaten additional property.
The incident highlights how quickly conditions can change, especially on windy days, and serves as a reminder of the risks associated with outdoor burning.
