NORTHPORT, NY — March 29th — A car accident at the intersection of Waterside Avenue and Norwood Avenue prompted the Northport Volunteer Fire Department to react.
One individual was trapped and hurt inside the car, according to First Assistant Chief Cross, who arrived on the site. After responding, Tower Ladder 2-9-7 extracted the occupant using hydraulic rescue equipment. In order to properly remove the patient, crews worked to stabilize the vehicle.
Following extrication, the patient received on-site care before being taken by Northport Fire Department Ambulance to a nearby hospital. To guarantee patient care and safety in entrapment incidents, fire and emergency medical services workers must coordinate their efforts.
