Quick Interior Knockdown Halts Hidden Wall Fire, Saves Orange Residence
ORANGE, MA — Orange Fire Rescue EMS contained a working structure fire after crews discovered heavy fire concealed within walls and extending into the ceiling and attic.
With limited on-duty staffing at the onset, a first alarm response brought in additional personnel and mutual aid. Engine 2 secured a water supply with assistance from police, while interior crews used a thermal imaging camera to locate and quickly knock down the main body of fire.
Mutual aid companies addressed attic extension and completed overhaul, while additional crews supported suppression and salvage operations to protect the lower floor.
The second floor sustained significant damage and is uninhabitable, but the structure was saved. One firefighter was evaluated for minor injuries, and the cause remains under investigation.
