Mutual Aid Supports Saddle Ridge Road Incident

EAST ROCKAWAY, NY — March 31st — In response to a request for mutual help, the East Rockaway Fire Department assisted the Hewlett Fire Department at a house fire on Saddle Ridge Road. Ambulance 408 and Assistant Chief Bristol arrived on the site to help with medical procedures. Engine 404 was moved to the site and put into service as a FAST engine after being initially assigned to standby at headquarters.
Firefighter safety is the responsibility of FAST units, which are prepared for quick deployment during interior operations. In order to guarantee personnel and coordination at operational fires, mutual aid responses continued to be routine throughout Nassau County.
