GREENLAWN, NY — March 29th —  At before 2:45 a.m., volunteers from the Greenlawn Fire Department responded to several reports of a residential structure fire.

In response, Joseph Pace, the department chief, Richard Jones, the first assistant chief, and Matthew Paulsen, the second assistant chief, created command. When the firemen arrived, they discovered a single-story private home with a large fire in the garage that was linked to the house and inside the house itself. Mutual aid arrived at the area after a working fire assignment was transmitted.

While first searches were being carried out, Headquarters Rescue Quint 2-7-2 arrived ahead of schedule and extended an initial handline to the garage. To assist with internal operations, Engine 2-7-7 established a second handline and acquired a water supply.

Mutual aid was provided by Halesite, Centerport, Huntington, Huntington Manor, and Northport Fire Departments. Crews operated for approximately two hours before returning to service. No injuries were reported.
