Multiple structures destroyed in overnight Ridgefield Park blaze

On April 21, at 2:38am the Ridgefield Park Fire Department was dispatched to 193 Brinkerhoff St for a reported house fire. Companies arrived on scene along with Ass't Chief Albequre transmitted a working fire and quick second alarm. Companies had heavy fire in the original fire building and the bravo exposure on arrival. Crews conducted an interior fire attack but due to the fire conditions, an evacuation order was given, and a third alarm transmitted. Fire extended to the Delta exposure as well along with 2 garages. As the fire consumed the buildings several explosions occurred from the garages. The fire extended to the rear deck of the homes as well. As conditions in the original fire building began to deteriorate all members were withdrawn from the house. Numerous outside handlines along with Truck 2's ladder pipe operated to knock down the fire in the original building and the exposure Bravo house.
All fire was extinguished and extensive overhaul was conducted in about after 2 hours of firefighting. No injuries were reported by civilians. Two (2) firefighters were transported for minor injuries. Mutual aid from Bergenfield, Bogota, Carlstadt, Cliffside Park, Englewood, Fort Lee, Hackensack, Hasbrouck Heights, Leonia, Little Ferry, Moonachie, Palisades Park, Teaneck and Tenafly assisted. along with County wide rehab. Assistant Chief Jacob Zardoya said.
The fire is under investigation by the Fire Prevention Bureau. Mutual aid from Crews operated on scene for an extended period of time conducting overhaul and worked with Bergen County Hazmat mitigating hazards.
