Collings Lakes, N.J. — July 5 — A swimmer dived below and did not come to the surface, prompting the Collings Lakes Fire Department to react to a marine rescue at the Collings Lakes Quarry, 644 Cains Mill Road. Marine 12-3, Brush 12-35, and Squad 12-31 were dispatched by Stations 12-3, 12-6, and BLS 12-9 to assist with the operation. Before other dive teams from Malaga, Bellmawr, and the Atlantic County Dive Team arrived, New Jersey State Police troopers went into the water.
Crews searched until operations were halted by nightfall and lightning. On July 6, the victim was found. Throughout the crisis, several organizations coordinated efforts, underscoring the value of regional mutual aid during challenging water rescue operations.
