This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Saxton, PA — March 24th — A reported barn fire in the 35-02 box prompted the early response of the Saxton Volunteer Fire Company. Units from Huntingdon County, Blair County, Company 36, and Company 41 provided mutual help during a first alarm assignment. Chief 35 ordered Tanker 35 to use a blitzfire device for initial knockdown, supported by handlines, after arriving to discover severe fire conditions throughout a garage structure. In order to contain the fire and finish the overhaul, crews worked for several hours.

Tanker shuttle operations, which are common in rural regions without hydrants, were used to establish the water supply. While EMS units offered standby and firefighter rehabilitation, fire police controlled traffic on Raystown Road. To look for hidden fire, hay bales were taken out. There were no reported injuries.
