Saxton, PA — March 23rd — Company 35 of the Saxton Volunteer Fire Company was sent to help Company 36 with a brush fire on Longs Run Road in Broad Top Township. To assist with operations, Company 35 responded with a tanker and an engine. Engine 35 was deployed to Company 36's station to set up a fill site, and Command asked Tanker 35 to join the water shuttle. In remote locations with few or no hydrant systems, tanker shuttle operations are frequently utilized.
On the fireground, crews from Company 35 helped with overhaul and fire suppression. Because of the topography, weather, and water supply requirements, brush fire events frequently call for coordinated mutual aid. Units cleared after helping with suppression and support duties, and operations were finished without any reported injuries.
