BLANDON, PA - During a busy operating period on April 16th, the Blandon Fire Department handled several calls and performed a technical rescue. Station 12 was called to Pleasant Hill Road at approximately 11:45 a.m. due to a dog that was stuck in a quarry. The dog and its owner were found by Chief 12 around 60-feet down a steep hillside. Crews established a rope rescue operation because of the terrain. Using a tree as an anchor, Ladder 12 staff used a dual tension rope system to descend a rescuer to bundle the dog and get the owner ready. In less than 45 minutes, the dog and its owner were safely transported to the top with the help of Muhlenberg Twp. Fire & Rescue 66. Shortly after clearing, Brush 12 and Engine 12 assisted with a brush fire in Richmond Twp. Officials reported five calls handled throughout the day.
