Henrico-Chesterfield join for water rescue

HENRICO-CHESTERFIELD,VA- Tones sounded dispatching water rescue and EMS crews to the Varina-Enon Bridge and Dutch Gap boat landing, for reports of a subject who jumped from the bridge on April 16 at 7:20 pm.


 


Henrico County Division of Fire and Chesterfield Fire and EMS sprang into action and quickly began to arrive.


 


" Henrico units were positioned on the Varina-Enon Bridge, Osborne Landing and Dutch Gap," said Chief Douglas Clevert of Henrico County Division of Fire.


 


" The subject was in the water and conscious ," said Chief Clevert.


 


A Henrico Police Boat was also assisting.


 


Virginia State Police assisted with the incident.


 


" The subject was pulled out of the water and into a Chesterfield boat," Chief Clevert said. " It was easier for Chesterfield to get to the Dutch Gap boat landing.So Chesterfield transported the subject to the hospital."


 


Responding from Henrico was: Chief 310, Rescue 318, Medic 304, Medic 302, EMS 302, Engine 304, Engine 317, Engine 318, BC 302 and Henrico Boat 302.


 


"Responding from Chesterfield was: Battalion Chief 202, Safety 201, SCUBA RESCUE 214, SCUBA RESCUE 207, Truck 214, Engine 214, Medic 214, Medic 217, Ambulance 214, Engine 217 and Boat 218." Said Captain Joe Harvey, Deputy Fire Marshal, Chesterfield Fire and EMS.


 


"The subject was in the boat within 27 minutes," Chief Clevert said.


 


Challenges were the call was on the Henrico-Chesterfield border," Chief Clevert said.


 


" We had a good response from all departments and all worked well." Chief Clevert said.
