Ashaway, RI - The Ashaway Volunteer Fire Association, assisted by Hope Valley - Wyoming Fire District Ladder 911, responded to a lightning strike that sparked a fire in an attached garage on Wellstown Road.

Crews established a water supply, advanced handlines, and initiated interior operations while truck crews performed a trench cut to stop extension into the home.

The fire was quickly brought under control, with damage largely confined to the garage.

Mutual aid companies operated effectively to contain the incident.
