EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — April 8th — At Aspen Aerogels, 3 Dexter Road, the East Providence Fire Department and Emergency Management Agency, 913 Broadway, responded to a structural fire and multiple casualty incident. When the first teams arrived, they discovered several people in need of medical attention as well as a working fire inside the industrial site. While EMS units set up triage, treatment, and transport sites in compliance with MCI guidelines, firefighters started suppression operations.
To support operations, more fire and EMS resources were needed, such as mutual aid firms for patient care, fire assault, and scene control. Because of facility risks and access issues, industrial disasters frequently call for coordination. After receiving care, patients were moved to nearby hospitals. While workers carried out overhaul operations, the fire was contained. The incident's cause is still being looked into.
