WEST GREENWICH, RI - A suspected roof fire in the Hianloland neighborhood on April 13th prompted the response of West Greenwich Volunteer Fire Company No. 1. Chiefs 203 and 204, Engine 22, Hianloland Engine 20, and Lake Mishnock Tanker 1 were among the units sent out. When crews arrived, they discovered that leaves on the roof had caught fire due to sparks from a wood-burning stove chimney. Firefighters cleared the burning material and examined the structure for extension, stopping the fire before it spread further.
