CONSTABLEVILLE, NY — April 6th — On a mutual aid assignment, the Constableville Volunteer Fire Company, Inc., located at 3059 Main Street, helped the Boonville Fire Department with a reported camper fire that had spread to a nearby residence. Nine volunteer firemen from units that responded included Engine 301, Engine 303, and Tanker 301. When crews arrived, they discovered that the house and the camper were both on fire. While firefighters tried to confine the fire and limit its spread, handlines were deployed and tanker operations maintained the water supply.
Boonville, Woodgate, and Remsen were among the mutual help organizations that collaborated on the scene. A swift-moving snowstorm worsened road conditions, which affected operations and reaction. To ensure safety, crews modified their strategies. No casualties were recorded after the fire was put out.
