Forklift Strike Triggers Commercial Fire Alarm

CASTORLAND, NY — April 1st — Due to a commercial fire alarm that reported sprinkler flow in system #6, the Castorland Fire Company, located at 5187 State Route 410, was called to 5204 Climax Street in the Village of Castorland. Engine 2 arrived on the scene after Engine 1 and Rescue responded. An employee informed the chief and crew that a forklift had hit a sprinkler line when they entered the premises to conduct an investigation. The sprinkler was turned off before the fire brigade arrived, and the system operated as intended.


There were no signs of a fire. The chief canceled more units after confirming the situation. To guarantee safety, calls concerning sprinkler activation still need to be investigated. After clearing the area, units resumed their duties.
