WESTVILLE, NJ - The Westville Fire Department was called to a reported commercial motor vehicle crash with fire near mile marker 20.0 on I-295 heading south, March 26th. Chief 6, Engines 733 and 19, Rescues 6 and 19, and Tender 21 were among the units sent out.

When Chief 6 arrived, he saw that a commercial truck was heavily involved in the fire and asked for more resources to help with water delivery and suppression.

While securing the area and mitigating traffic hazards, crews erected handlines and launched an external attack. Traffic control and scene safety were coordinated with supporting authorities because of the location. There were no reports of responders suffering any immediate injuries. Crews stayed on scene to finish overhaul and make sure all hot spots were extinguished.
