Crews Stop Extension at Viking Way Apartment Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

BROCKPORT, NY — March 20th — A reported external fire at an apartment complex prompted the Brockport Fire District to go to Viking Way. The first person to arrive was an assistant chief from the Murray Joint Fire District, who discovered a first-floor balcony on fire. As Engine 230 arrived, the officer put out most of the fire with a dry chemical extinguisher.

Crews used water cans to put out any leftover flames after opening the balcony wall to check for an extension. Crews must open up and verify complete extinguishment since exterior fires can spread into empty areas. No injuries were recorded, and the situation was swiftly brought under control.
