NORTH EAST, PA — 13th March — In order to help the Westfield Fire Department, Ripley Hose Company #1, and other mutual aid departments at a working structure fire, the Crescent Hose Company, located at 36 E Main St., North East, PA, was sent into New York. Nine firemen from Heavy Rescue 208 and Ladder 209 responded. Crews were allocated to overhaul, salvage, and fire suppression tasks under a single command structure upon arrival.
Before being released by command, firefighters worked on the scene for around two hours. In this area, mutual aid actions between counties and states are typical, assisting departments with staffing management and sustaining efficient operations amid work-related disasters. Volunteers for firefighting, EMS, and fire police positions are still being sought for by the department, and new recruits receive training.
