Multiple Departments Respond to York County Brush Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

YORK, PA — April 9th — At a brush fire in the 900 block of Bridgeton Road, the Delta-Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company Station 57 responded with Brush 57 to help the Airville Volunteer Fire Company. When units arrived, they discovered that about 3 to 4 acres were on fire and asked for more resources. Using brush units, hand tools, and water application, Brush 57 worked with Citizens Volunteer Fire Company and New Bridgeville Memorial Fire Company to contain the fire.

When circumstances permitted, crews sought to manage hotspots and maintain perimeter control. Multi-agency cooperation is essential during brush fires, according to officials, particularly in remote locations with restricted access. Until the fire was contained, units stayed on the site.
