WARREN, NJ — April 7th — In response to a first-alarm building fire in Bernards Township, the Department Mt. Bethel Fire Company, located at 128 Mount Bethel Road, Warren, NJ, provided mutual aid. As the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT), a group tasked with supporting firemen working inside the building if necessary, Ladder 61 was called to the incident. Crews were reassigned to assist with ventilation operations after they arrived and checked in with headquarters.
To get rid of the building's heat and smoke, firefighters went to the roof and used vertical ventilation. The improvements improved internal conditions for search and firefighting workers. In Somerset County, mutual aid responses between agencies are commonplace, enabling more personnel and specialized equipment to help operations at working fires and other major events.
