Brush Fire with Involved 4 wheeler

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

At 6:13 pm on March 31, the Limerick Fire Department was dispatched to a reported field fire on Longview Rd, along the train tracks by the power plant. While en route, dispatch advised of multiple callers reporting a brush fire along the tracks, later updated to a report of a four-wheeler on fire that had extended into the surrounding brush. Deputy 51 arrived and confirmed that an abandoned four-wheeler was on fire and that the flames had spread to nearby brush along the train tracks. Field 51-1, Field 51-2, Squad 51, Fire Police, and Limerick PD responded.

The Squad 51 crew arrived first and began initial suppression efforts with water cans. A minute or so later, Field-51-1 arrived and provided a steady water supply, later hooking up to Field 51-2 when it arrived for more water. Deputy 51 requested that dispatch notify the railroad companies to halt incoming trains due to fire hoses crossing the tracks until operations were clear. Crews extinguished the fires and soaked the area to avoid any chance of rekindling before moving the burnt four-wheeler to the opposite side of the tracks. All were made available within the hour.
