At approximately 1248 hours on April 6, 2026, the Burlington County Fire Alarm Room dispatched the Eastampton Fire Department and automatic aid units for the report of a dwelling fire at 1116 Smithville Rd in Eastampton. The fire radio reported multiple calls with a smoke column showing from a distance. When the first unit arrived, they reported heavy fire showing from the rear of the 1 1/2 story single family dwelling. As companies tried to make an aggressive interior attack on the fire, they were unable to get in passed a few feet due to the Collyer's Mansion conditions that existed. Companies were able to cut some access points into the house for house line placement, but the fire went through the roof and Truck Company 6725 from Joint Base Maguire-Dix-Lakehurst was called to the scene to utilize their tower ladder. In addition to the hoarding conditions that the firefighters had to deal with, there were a dozen dogs more on the property that needed to be rounded up to ensure they were cared for. The fire was placed under control at 1347 hours.
