Norwalk, CT - On March 30, 2026 at approximately 9:53 p.m. on Monday, the Norwalk Fire Department responded to reports of smoke in the basement of a residence on Stonybrook Road.
Upon arrival, the first engine company confirmed smoke inside the home and quickly upgraded the situation to a working fire. Firefighters located the source of the blaze in the basement and were able to contain and extinguish it before it spread to the first floor or other parts of the house.
While suppression efforts were underway, crews simultaneously conducted a primary search of the residence, ventilated the structure, and secured the building’s power supply. The incident was managed with a first-alarm response involving 26 firefighters.
The resident credited a functioning smoke detector with providing early warning of the fire. One occupant has been displaced as a result of the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Norwalk Fire Marshal Division.
