WAUREGAN, CT — March 28th — Along with the Plainfield Police Department and the Mortlake Fire Company Ambulance, the Atwood Hose Fire Company, located at 24 Wauregan Road, responded to a reported car crash involving a vehicle and a tree around 450 Putnam Road. The lone occupant had self-extricated from the car before emergency personnel could arrive, according to first-arriving units. There was no need for the motorist to be sent to a hospital after EMS professionals assessed him on the spot.

While plans were being made for the car's removal, firefighters handled the area and secured the vehicle. Responders stayed on the scene. After a patch of ice was discovered on the nearby road, creating dangerous driving conditions, the Connecticut Department of Transportation was asked to apply sand.
