WAUREGAN, CT — March 16th — A reported structure fire on Carol Avenue in Killingly, within the Killingly Fire Department's territory, prompted the Atwood Hose Fire Company to react as part of a first-alarm assignment. On the outside of a single-family home, first-arriving units discovered a small fire. The fire was swiftly put out by the crews, who also verified that there was no extension into the building's interior. The outside wall and surrounding areas were then examined by firefighters to make sure the fire had not spread into any concealed sections.
Heavy Tanker 196 was stationed at a nearby hydrant and prepared to deliver a supply hose if necessary. When the situation was under control, the crew of Engine/Tanker 196 stayed on site to support operations until the units were released and put back into service.
