Mutual Aid Supports Winchendon Fire at Mill Glen Road

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

WINCHENDON, MA — April 3rd — Following a resident's 911 call to the Winchendon Dispatch Center, firefighters from the Winchendon Fire Department in Massachusetts responded to a reported structure fire at 10 Mill Glen Road. Before crews arrived, the resident fled via a second-story window and was outdoors when firefighters arrived. Three on-duty firefighters from Winchendon Engine 1 arrived first and verified that everyone had left. A second alarm and a tanker task force were asked to arrange a water supply because the house is outside the municipal hydrant district.

When a rear utility room caught fire, crews started fighting it from the outside before moving inside. Mutual assistance organizations helped with overhaul, ventilation, and water supply.
