Heavy Fire Showing from Roof as Crews Arrive to Winchendon Home

WINCHENDON, MA - At 9:36 a.m. on April 3rd, Winchendon Firefighters were toned out to a reported house fire at 10 Mill Glen Road. On arrival, Winchendon Engine 1 reported a one-and-a-half-story, wood-frame house with heavy smoke showing from the roof and all occupants out of the building.
With no hydrants nearby, firefighters made an aggressive interior attack using tank water and knocked down the bulk of the heavy fire.
Mutual aid companies from Gardner, Ashburnham, Rindge NH, Jaffrey NH, Royalston, Templeton and Phillipston worked on the scene knocking down the remaining fire and hot spots while Ashby covered the Winchendon fire station.
