Firefighters Quickly Knock Down Overnight Blaze in Rochelle Park
Rochelle Park, NJ - At 01:13 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, volunteers from the Rochelle Park Fire Department (RPFD) were dispatched to a reported fire on Somerville Street. Unit 330 arrived shortly after dispatch, confirmed visible fire from the residence, and transmitted a working fire.
Upon arrival, Engine 1 crews immediately stretched a hose line and began knocking down the fire. Crews from Truck 1 and Maywood Truck 17 conducted a primary search of the home and confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated. Engine 2, along with Maywood Engine 19, stretched a second line to the garage area while additional companies opened up and checked for fire extension.
Thanks to the rapid response of RPFD members and mutual aid partners, the main body of fire was quickly brought under control, with command reporting the incident under control within 40 minutes of dispatch. No injuries were reported.
