Working Basement Fire in Norwalk

The City of Norwalk Fire Department, along with Norwalk Police and EMS, was dispatched to reported smoke in the basement at #26 Stonybrook Rd. on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 9:38 pm.


The first arriving Engine reported smoke inside the residence followed by a transmission of a working fire in the basement.  Firefighters encountered fire in the basement which was quickly contained and extinguished, thus preventing extension to the 1st floor and beyond.  While the fire was being extinguished, firefighters simultaneously conducted a primary search, ventilated the building, and secured the power to the residence.  The fire was handled with a 1st alarm assignment consisting of a total of 26 firefighters. 


The occupant credited a working smoke detector for alerting her to the smoke and fire in the basement.    


Currently, there is one occupant displaced.  


The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
