Windham, NH — March 23rd — Firefighters from Windham arrived at Granite State Animal Hospital, located at 19 Roulston Road, in response to a commercial fire alarm. An upgraded response resulted from the alarm company's notification that a person on the scene had confirmed a fire and fled the building while units were on their way. When Chief McPherson arrived, he established leadership by reporting smoke. The fire was identified by the crews as being outside and involving a tiny mini excavator close to the building.
While Tanker-1 and Tanker-2 set up a water supply and helped put out the fire, Windham Ladder-1 started the fire attack. Mutual help units were discontinued once responders verified the fire was limited to the equipment. Windham Police provided traffic assistance. The incident was declared unintentional and no injuries were reported.
