New Durham, NH — March 17th — A first-alarm structure fire was reported in the Town of Barnstead, prompting the New Durham Fire Department to react. Car 1 and Engine 2 were sent to help the Barnstead Fire Department and other mutual assistance organizations that were on the site. As instructed by Barnstead command, New Durham firefighters joined the incident command system upon arrival and assisted with fireground operations. In rural New Hampshire, first-alarm responses frequently include multiple agencies to provide sufficient personnel, equipment, and water supply during building fires.
While command staff oversees operations across several agencies, engine companies typically help with overhaul, water supply, and suppression. In the area, mutual aid is still a crucial component of fire safety. Until the command liberated them from the situation, new Durham units were assigned.
