Dumont, NJ - On 17th March 2026 at 21:22 hours, fire units including Chiefs 211 and 212 and Engine 5 were dispatched to a reported structure fire in Bergenfield. Responding crews arrived quickly to discover intense flames coming from the back section of a home.
Firefighters from Engine 5 began their attack by entering through the front entrance, where they encountered significant fire on the ground level, particularly in the kitchen area, with flames already spreading upward into the attic. Additional crews stretched a second hoseline to the rear extension of the house, where the fire was believed to have started, and worked to bring the heaviest flames under control.
Operations faced a temporary setback due to a faulty hydrant, but crews were able to adjust their strategy without delay and continue suppression efforts effectively. Thanks to the rapid response and coordinated efforts, the fire was brought under control without any reported injuries to residents or emergency personnel.
