Structure Fire on Trombly Lane Quickly Contained Through Coordinated Multi-Agency Response

Chazy, NY - On 06 March 2026 around 13:46 pm, the Chazy Volunteer Fire Department, along with first-due mutual aid from the West Chazy Volunteer Fire Department and the Beekmantown Volunteer Fire Department, responded to a reported structure fire on Trombly Lane. Additional support was provided by EMT personnel from CVPH, as well as Clinton County Cars 4 and 6.

Upon arrival, the first officer on scene, Chazy 150-2, reported a two-story wood-frame structure with heavy smoke visible. Due to the residence being located outside of the hydrant district, Chazy Command initiated a Clinton County Tanker Task Force to ensure an adequate water supply.

The first arriving apparatus, Chazy Engine 151, deployed 2-inch and three-quarter handlines, with SCBA-equipped firefighters making entry into the structure. Interior crews were able to rapidly bring the fire under control. A secondary team was then deployed to check for any potential fire extension within the building.

Because of the quick knockdown, the tanker task force was canceled. Rouses Point Volunteer Fire Department continued responding but was ultimately not required on scene, while the Champlain Volunteer Fire Department remained on standby at the Chazy station. Clinton County Car 14 also responded to the incident.

The prompt and coordinated efforts of all responding agencies limited the damage to the kitchen area on the first floor of the residence. All Chazy units returned to service by 16:00. Appreciation was extended to all responding personnel and to the Clinton County Dispatchers for their clear and efficient communication throughout the incident.
