YULAN, NY — March 27th — At 9:49 a.m., the Yulan Fire Department received a complaint of a chimney fire on Airport Road. Due to the strong smoke, Past Chief Blaut came on the site and requested tanker help from the Highland Lake and Lumberland Fire Departments.

Chief Schadt later took charge and ordered Lumberland soldiers to stand by while Yulan crews conducted operations. Firefighters entered the roof, cleaned the chimney, removed the stove pipe, and examined the surrounding walls to verify the fire had not spread beyond the flue.

The event was brought under control without causing additional harm. The Highland Lake Fire Department, Lumberland Fire Department, and Highland Ambulance Service all assisted by standing by during the call.
