High Winds Keep Queensbury Firefighters Busy Overnight

On March 17, fire departments throughout the Town of Queensbury responded to a series of midnight calls as severe winds from a storm passed through the area.


The Queensbury Central Fire Company began the morning with a fire alarm activation about 01:10 a.m. Additional calls came in during the following several hours as severe winds toppled trees and damaged power lines and transformers throughout town.


Firefighters responded to numerous service requests while monitoring storm-related circumstances. Utility staff were also attempting to resolve outages in several places.
