March 14, 2026 — At approximately 1:21 p.m., the Amwell Valley Fire Company was dispatched to Wertsville Road in East Amwell Township for a reported brush fire in a field. Upon arrival, Chief 48 reported a rapidly spreading, wind-driven fire and immediately requested a 5th Alarm Brush Box assignment, bringing in multiple mutual aid companies.

Firefighters from several neighboring departments, along with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, responded with brush trucks, tenders, and manpower to assist in containing the blaze. Crews worked aggressively to stop the forward progress of the fire and protect nearby structures, exposures, and livestock. The fire ultimately consumed approximately six acres of field and woodland before being brought under control.

Units remained on scene for about four hours before returning to service. Officials credited the coordinated response and mutual aid efforts for preventing further spread and damage.
